When Michael wakes up in the mornings, after a quick trip to the bathroom, he will usually turn on his DVD player and watch a movie, play on his computer, watch Noggin downstairs, or just play in his room until we wake up. This morning, I heard the sounds of deep padding of feet as they walked down the stairs and straight to our room.
I fully expected Michael to come tell me he had an accident and his clothes were wet. A pair of big, concerned set of eyes met mine. "Mom! What is in my room??" Michael asks. I had no clue what he was referring to in his room. Monsters? Bugs? "What is in your room?" I asked. "Mom! There is a CLOCK in my room!" I tried not to laugh. Yesterday, I had found an an old electric clock in a box. We've had it for years. But it worked just fine and displayed big numbers. I thought Michael would like it and plugged it into his room. The big eyes continued to stare as he said, "Mom, let me show you!" I said, "Why don't you go tell me what the clock says?" After a trip up the stairs and back down the stairs, he says "It's forty seven minutes after seven!" Oh if we could all get a thrill out of an old clock in our rooms! Age: 5 years old |
